1. What Information Do We Collect?
Personal information you disclose to us
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise contact us. The personal information we collect may include:
- Email addresses
- Usernames
- Profile photo
- Geolocation data
- Date of birth
- User-generated content (videos, photos, comments)
- Usage data
- Device push notification tokens
- IP address
Sensitive Information
When necessary, with your consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, we process the following categories of sensitive information:
- Account login information (email address and encrypted password credentials used for authentication)
- Precise geolocation data (GPS coordinates collected at the time of posting to verify physical presence at a skate spot)
Application Data
If you use our application, we may collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:
- Geolocation Information. We request access to location-based information from your mobile device while you are using the app, to verify you are physically present at a skate spot when posting content and to show you nearby spots on the map. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device's settings. Note that if you opt out of location access, you will not be able to post content.
- Mobile Device Access. We request access to certain features from your mobile device, including your camera, microphone, and photo library for recording and uploading video content. You may change these permissions in your device's settings.
- Mobile Device Data. We automatically collect device information such as your device model, operating system version, app version, and Internet Protocol (IP) address. This information is used for security, debugging, and compatibility purposes.
- Push Notifications. We request to send you push notifications regarding votes on your clips, new homie connections, and other activity. You may turn these off in your device's settings at any time.
Information Automatically Collected
We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services — such as your IP address, device characteristics, operating system, and information about how and when you use the Services. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services and for internal analytics.
Derived Classifications
We compute certain derived classifications about users to support core app functionality — including local-resident status relative to skate spots (used for vote weighting) and OG status at specific spots (assigned based on user activity at that spot). These classifications are used solely to operate the service and are not shared with third parties or used for advertising. Users can view their own status (e.g., OG badges) within the app.
2. How Do We Process Your Information?
We process your personal information for the following reasons:
- To facilitate account creation, authentication, and account management
- To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user
- To respond to user inquiries and offer support
- To send administrative information (policy changes, security alerts)
- To enable user-to-user communications (homies-only direct messages)
- To request feedback about your use of our Services
- To protect our Services, including fraud monitoring and prevention
- To evaluate and improve our Services, products, and user experience
- To identify usage trends through first-party analytics
- To comply with our legal obligations
- Geolocking: To verify users are physically present at the skate spots where they post content (location-based content authentication)
4. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?
We keep your personal information for as long as you have an active account with us. When you delete your account through Settings → Delete Account, most personal information is immediately and permanently deleted, including your account credentials, posts, votes, comments, messages, and profile data.
Certain records may be anonymized rather than deleted — for example, moderation reports retain their content but with your identifying information removed — to preserve operational integrity. Server logs are retained for up to 12 months for security and debugging purposes, then deleted.
5. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. These include encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest, database-level row-level security policies, secure password hashing via Supabase Auth, regular automated backups, and restricted administrative access.
However, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk.
6. What Are Your Privacy Rights?
You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time. To update your account information, log in to your account settings. To terminate your account and delete your data, use Settings → Delete Account within the app.
If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, email us at support@blowuplocal.app.
7. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature. Because there is currently no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals, we do not currently respond to them. If a standard is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.
8. Do United States Residents Have Specific Privacy Rights?
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or limit use of your data.
