The Rules
of the Spot.
Last updated May 2026 · Blowup Local LLC
Blowup is built on one idea: the local scene decides what's good. That only works if everyone's playing it straight — real clips, real spots, real votes.
These guidelines cover what you can post, what you can't, and what happens when someone crosses the line. They apply to everything on the platform: videos, comments, DMs, profile info, and how you interact with other skaters.
You agreed to these when you signed up. They're part of our Terms of Service. If you see something that shouldn't be here, report it — that's how this stays a place worth being.
Prohibited Content
Skating is raw. Slams happen. Spots get gnarly. We're not trying to sanitize that. But there's a clear line between skate culture and content that hurts people — and we enforce it.
Hard no. No exceptions.
- Sexual content involving minors. Any of it. Reported to law enforcement immediately.
- Content that depicts, facilitates, or instructs real-world violence against a specific person or group.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form.
- Content that promotes or instructs terrorism or mass violence.
Also prohibited
- No Explicit sexual content. Nudity, sexual acts, or sexually suggestive content. This is a 13+ app.
- No Gratuitous gore. Slam footage is allowed — broken boards, rough falls, the occasional blood. What's not allowed: footage that exists purely to shock, dehumanize, or celebrate serious injury.
- No Hate speech. Content that degrades people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
- No Harassment and targeted abuse. Calling out a specific person to degrade, threaten, or coordinate attacks against them. Beef between skaters is part of the culture — targeted harassment campaigns are not.
- No Threats of real-world violence. Threatening to harm someone physically, threatening to show up at their location, or content designed to make someone fear for their safety.
- No Doxxing. Posting someone's home address, phone number, workplace, or other private identifying information without their consent.
- No Impersonation. Pretending to be another skater, a public figure, or Blowup staff. Creating fake accounts to deceive.
- No Spam and fake engagement. Automated accounts, coordinated voting rings, fake profiles created to game the system. The local scene decides what's good — not bots.
- No GPS spoofing. Faking your location to post at a spot you're not at. The geolocking is the whole point.
- No Explicit trespassing instructions. Spot footage is fine even if the spot involves some risk — that's skating. What's not fine: step-by-step instructions for breaking into private property, cutting locks, evading security, or facilitating illegal access beyond incidental spot knowledge.
- No Copyrighted content you don't have rights to. Music playing in the background of a skate clip is one thing. Uploading someone else's full video, ripping another skater's edit, or posting content that isn't yours is another.
- No Solicitation, scams, or commercial spam. Using Blowup to sell products, run giveaway scams, or push external services without authorization.
On skate injuries: Slams, bails, and rough falls are part of skating and are allowed. We're not going to remove a slam video because it looks painful. We will remove content that appears designed to humiliate, mock a serious injury, or dehumanize the person in the clip — especially if they didn't consent to being filmed.
On spots: We know skating often happens in legally gray areas. Posting at a spot that has a "no skating" sign isn't grounds for removal. Posting a guide on how to defeat the security system at a specific building is.
How to Report Content
Every video, comment, and profile on Blowup has a report option. Use it.
- Vid Reporting a video: Tap the three-dot menu on any video card → Report. Select the reason. You can add a note if the context matters.
- User Reporting a user: Visit their skater card → tap Report. This flags the account, not just a single piece of content.
- DM Reporting a DM: Long-press any message → Report. DMs are homies-only, but that doesn't mean harassment can't happen.
- Mail Reporting by email: If you can't reach the in-app report flow, email support@blowuplocal.app with as much context as possible — username, link, and description.
Reports are anonymous. The person you report won't know it was you. You won't receive a detailed update on what action was taken (for the reported person's privacy), but we do act on every report.
Moderation Process
Every report gets a real review. We're not running an automated filter — a human reads it.
Response commitment: We review all reports within 24 hours of submission, 7 days a week. Severe violations (CSAM, credible threats, targeted harassment) are escalated immediately.
Actions we can take
- Content Remove the content. The video, comment, or post is taken down. The account stays active.
- Warning Issue a warning. First violations that aren't severe get a notice explaining what was removed and why.
- Suspend Temporarily suspend the account. The account is locked for a defined period. All content remains but is hidden during suspension.
- Ban Permanently ban the account. The account is terminated, all content removed, and the user is prohibited from creating new accounts.
- Report Report to law enforcement. For content involving CSAM, credible threats of violence, or other illegal activity, we report to the appropriate authorities and cooperate fully with any resulting investigation.
We notify the affected account when content is removed or the account is actioned, except when doing so might compromise an ongoing investigation or the safety of the reporting party.
Appealing a Decision
We make calls as accurately as we can, but we're not infallible. If you think a decision was wrong, you can appeal.
- 01 Email support@blowuplocal.app with subject line "Appeal — [your username]".
- 02 Explain what was removed or actioned and why you believe the decision was incorrect. Specifics help — vague appeals are harder to review.
- 03 We respond to appeals within 5 business days. Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the original action.
- 04 If the appeal is successful, the content is restored or the account is reinstated. We'll let you know either way.
Appeals for account terminations resulting from CSAM, child exploitation, or credible threats of violence are not accepted.
Three Strikes
Isolated incidents happen. Patterns don't get ignored.
Severity can override the three-strike sequence. A single severe violation — CSAM, credible threats of violence, coordinated harassment campaigns — results in immediate permanent termination without prior strikes.
Violations reset after 12 months of clean behavior for non-severe infractions. Severe violations stay on record permanently.
When Accounts Get Banned
We can terminate accounts immediately and without warning for any of the following:
- Out Posting or distributing CSAM or any content that sexually exploits minors.
- Out Credible threats of physical violence against a specific person or group.
- Out Coordinated harassment campaigns targeting a specific user.
- Out Creating accounts to evade a previous ban.
- Out Using the platform to facilitate illegal activity against other users — doxxing, stalking, swatting.
- Out Systematic manipulation of the voting or OG system through automated accounts or coordinated fraud.
When an account is terminated, all associated content — videos, comments, votes, DMs — is permanently deleted from the platform. The decision is final for severe violations.

Counter-notices
If your content was removed in response to a DMCA notice and you believe that removal was a mistake, you can file a counter-notice. Email us at support@blowuplocal.app with "DMCA Counter-Notice" in the subject line. Your counter-notice must meet the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3).

Law Enforcement Requests
We cooperate with law enforcement agencies when legally required to do so.
- 01 We respond to valid legal process — subpoenas, court orders, and warrants — issued by US courts with appropriate jurisdiction.
- 02 We review all requests carefully and produce only the specific data required by the legal process — no more.
- 03 We notify affected users of legal requests when legally permitted to do so and when we believe it is appropriate.
- 04 We act without prior notice when required by law or when doing so would endanger someone's safety.
- 05 For emergency situations involving imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, law enforcement should contact us immediately at support@blowuplocal.app.
